“The Lives of Others” and Follow-up Discussion
ACLU Montana will host a showing of the 2006 Academy Award Winner for Best Foreign Language Film, The Lives of Others. Set in East Germany just before the fall of the Berlin Wall, the film explores the effects of a government spying upon its own citizens and what happens when the right to free speech is threatened. The film, which has mature content, is a quiet, gripping, and powerful statement about freedom. The Lives of Others has widely been heralded as a transformational film. Following the film, audience members may stay to discuss the film and the issues it raises.
Doors open at 5:30 for a reception with light fare and no-host wine and beer
Film begins promptly at 6:00.
