Miriam Grossman's dangerous messages about sex and our kids
How to talk about sex education:
Teens need reliable information to make healthy and responsible decisions about sex. We all want teenagers to be safe and make responsible decisions about life. We can't be with them all the time, but we can make sure that they have the information they need to make healthy and smart decisions.
Comprehensive sex ed saves lives and helps prevent unintended pregnancies. Approximately one in three young women in the U.S. become pregnant before they reach the age of 20. Research shows that teens who receive comprehensive sex ed are more likely to delay sex and to use contraceptives when they become sexually active.
Misleading teens violates the trust they put in us. Our children deserve accurate information. Knowledge is power.
Information that is wrong, too little or too late can result in lifelong consequences for youth. These can include pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, abuse and even sterility.
